Alachua County Public Schools announced there will be an optional second round of flu shots offered in Alachua County schools due to the severity of this year’s flu virus.
The vaccination will be offered as a flu shot only. “As always, the shots are FREE, safe and will be administered at school during the school day,” according to Alachua County Public Schools. For your child to get the flu shot, you must complete the consent form and return it to your child’s school by February 21. If you child has already gotten the flu shot, they do not need to get another. You can find the consent form here along with additional information, a parent letter, vaccine information sheet and more.
The height of this Florida flu season has yet to hit, so it is important to protect your children from potentially getting sick. To contact the Alachua County Health Department with any questions, call (352) 334-7916.
