National French Fry Day was on July 13! French fries are an American favorite that are the perfect side dish to so many meals. Instead of heading to your local fast food restaurant to enjoys these golden treats, try making them at home! Here is an easy recipe for homemade french fries.

Homemade French Fries

Ingredients:

  • Russel potatoes
  • Olive oil
  • Salt
  • Seasoning of choice

Directions:

Set your oven to 375℉. Prepare your potatoes by washing them and removing any bad spots. Cut your potatoes into skinny “match stick” style sticks. The smaller the french fries, the faster they will cook.

Once all of your potatoes are cut, toss all the potatoes with olive oil until every french fry is covered in oil. Also, add salt, pepper and seasoning of choice to the uncooked french fries.

Get a large baking sheet and oil the sheet with olive oil. Spread out the french fries on the baking sheet in an even layer, making sure that no french fries are on top of each other. This may take more than one baking sheet.

Put the baking sheet in the oven and cook the french fries for 25-30 minutes or until crispy. Halfway through the cooking process, turn the french fried over to ensure even cooking.

For extra crispy fries, spray the french fries with oil halfway through the cooking process. The excess amount of oil will get hot and essentially “oven-fry” the french fries.

Once the french fries are done cooking, let them cool and enjoy with dipping sauces!
