Fourth of July Party Treats

By Carrie Groves

Happy birthday, America!

Fourth of July is here, and I don’t know about you, but I am ready for some outdoor fun with fireworks, family, friends and lots of yummy food! Besides the typical barbecue foods, what about some festive and delicious treats? As I have said in other posts, I LOVE Pinterest, and I always find some great food inspiration. Below are a few different Independence Day-inspired ideas. Feel free to change them up to suit your own tastes!

Fruit-infused water

Fill a clear pitcher with ice water, strawberries, blueberries and pineapple for a refreshingly fruity drink. If you want to get creative, use a star cookie cutter to cut the pineapple in star shapes.

Fruit-infused ice cubes

This idea is an alternate way to give your drinks a fruity taste. Dice up some strawberries, blueberries, raspberries and blackberries, and place them in an ice tray. Top off with water and freeze. Once frozen, add to your beverage of choice!

Fruit flag

This treat is one of my favorites! Dice up some watermelon and pineapple and place in 9-inch by 13-inch dish, alternating to create red and white stripes. Place some blueberries in the upper left hand corner, and you have a fruit dish that looks like the American flag!

Sparkler Rice Krispies Treats

Like Rice Krispies Treats? Add a festive touch by adding red, white and blue sprinkles (star-shaped sprinkles are best if you can find them) to the mix. Once they are made, cut your treats into squares and add a popsicle stick on the end of each one!

There are endless options for Fourth of July food, and you can check out Pinterest for even more ideas. Have some fun foods that you like to make for Independence Day? Please share below! Have a fun, safe and happy Fourth of July!
